Yesterday, I had a follow-up appt. with my Achilles Specialist. She couldn’t believe my progress….she commented that the rate of recovery is like nothing she has ever witnessed.
She indicated that she attributes it to my use of both a walking cast and the Freedom Leg, but mostly The Freedom Leg, and she is going to start prescribing/recommending it to all of her patients. She speculates that I have one more month of non-weight bearing recovery, whereas just a few days ago she thought it would be a few months…….well through continued use of my FL I am going to surprise her further.
I wish to thank you once again for your fantastic product, and I commend you highly for your thoughtful humanitarian efforts, specifically pertaining to your production facility. Best Wishes and Best of Luck!!!!
Dear Freedom Leg Brace Inventors and Support Staff,
I received my brace today, and wish to share with you that the minute I put the brace on, and began walking without crutches….I felt the most incredible sense of freedom and immense happiness!!! This is the greatest invention on the planet!!! I thank you so very kindly for creating this. My boyfriend is an ER M.D., and was very skeptical about my decision to order your brace….I make my own decisions. When he saw me walking with freedom and a smile on my face…..his opinion was somewhat swayed….but then I suggested that he try it on and experience it…..and he did. He was blown away….and indicated that he will prescribe it and/or mention it to all of his patients in the E.R. Maybe you guys can collaborate. In any event, I am so amazingly appreciative and grateful to you!!!! I feel like you gave me back my life!!!
In this customer review we learn how the Freedom Leg brace from Forward Mobility gives you independence.
A doctor is asked to review his experience using the Freedom Leg brace from Forward Mobility on Calgary TV station.
Forward Mobility review: The Freedom Leg Brace allows you to live your life doing all the normal tasks can’t do on crutches. With your hands free you can safely climb stairs, stay on the job and then at the end of the day still take care of your family.
According to statistics from the Southern Arizona Limb Salvage Alliance (SALSA) website, Diabetes affects 26 million people in the US and more than 366 million people worldwide and up to 25% of those with diabetes will develop a foot ulcer. More than half of all foot ulcers will become infected, requiring hospitalization and 20% of infections result in amputation. This means that every 20 seconds, somewhere in the world, a limb is lost as a consequence of diabetes.
One of the important elements in the treatment of a Diabetic foot ulcer is to reduce the weight on the foot with the ulcer allowing the tissue to heal. Many people with Diabetes, especially the elderly, are not strong or stable enough to use crutches so they have not had many good options before the Freedom Leg. As mentioned in an early post, “The Freedom Leg in conjunction with a secondary device such as a cane or walker can give them safe mobility. The Freedom Leg can support their weight while the secondary device can provide additional stability.”
Renting the Freedom Leg has been tried but is not the typical business model. One of the challenges with renting leg brace products is hygiene. Before they can be rented to the next person the device should be clean of any contaminants from the last user.
It is more difficult with braces because they have so much contact with the human body. This is why leg braces in general are a purchase and not a rental item.
In many cases it is possible to treat a partial Achilles Tendon Rupture with a more conservative approach that does not require surgery. This typically means 8+ weeks of non-weight bearing on the affected leg. It can be very difficult to comply with this prescription if you are using crutches. Many people are unable to consistently use crutches for such an extended period of time because of the inconvenience and pain to the back and upper body associated with continuous use. They begin to put the injured foot on the ground which can aggravate the injury so it will not heal. The result is they may then require surgery and another long non-weight bearing period.
A better solution is to use the Freedom Leg Brace from Forward Mobility to allow the Achilles Tendon to heal. Once you put on the brace you know you are non-weight bearing 100% of the time. You still have the use of your hands and there is no strain on the back or upper body. The Freedom Leg brace easily integrates into your daily routine making it much easier to comply with the doctor.
The Freedom Leg Brace can be effective alternative to crutches if you have an Achilles Tendon rupture. With the Freedom Leg you walk with zero weight on the injured leg and have your hands-free providing an effective alternative.
The non-weight bearing time to recover from an Achilles tear can be from 6-12 weeks. This is a large disruption to your life if you are on crutches. Another great benefit is that the upper leg muscles will maintain their strength and will not have the atrophy normally associated with long periods of crutch usage.
We have had a many doctors who have personally used the Freedom Leg Brace. Without the need for crutches and their hands free they could stay on the job. We spoke with a few of them so they could review the device and talk about their experience.
