“The Freedom Leg Walking Brace allowed me to walk around without having to put any pressure or weight on my broken ankle whatsoever. I could even carry a cup of coffee or soda without spilling a drop. At first, it took some getting use to. So, until I had my balance just right, I used the brace while leaning on a cane or crutch. Once I had the balance right, I was off and walking to the kitchen, bathroom, bedroom. The mobility without any weight bearing was remarkable and allowed me a great deal more ability to get things done on my own without having to rely on someone else for the mundane routines of everyday life.
Putting the brace on was easy too. It was just a matter of a few Velcro straps and minor adjustments and in a few minutes I was off and running. Well, not running but slowly walking to where ever I had to be.” Read more at http://www.921khits.com/page.php?jock_id=4215&page_id=17767st
Thank You! The Freedom Leg made it possible for me to keep working. I am thrilled about how easy it is to get around our challenging environment and that I can do all my normal tasks. The folks at Forward Mobility are incredibly helpful and kind and the product is FANTASTIC.
It has made a huge difference in my life.
I want to thank FWDMobility.com for the Freedom Leg Brace!! It has made a huge difference in my life. It has allowed me to recover in my own home which means everything to me. Joel, you have been so incredibly helpful and I’ve been so pleasantly surprised by how quickly you handle everything. I don’t think I’ve ever experienced better customer service from another company. Thanks for giving me back my freedom and independence!!
Outstanding product that changed my quality of life.

Dramatically improved my life with a broken tibia! I went from hopping on one foot to walking, driving, and handling stairs no problem.
I have no issues with this product at all. Frankly, I wish I had been introduced to it sooner. It’s shocking to me that hospitals still issue crutches in this day and age.
As someone with foot and knee problems, I will be a devotee for life.
Hands Free Mobility

I was traveling and broke my ankle, happen to be in Seattle. The Freedom Leg was brought to my hotel by a Forward Mobility Rep. who helped with demo and fitting. I was relieved to be off crutches to continue my business and travel home and agreed to purchase the Freedom Leg. I walked on the Freedom Leg to the nearest ATM and got cash to make payment. Couldn’t be more satisfied.
Hands-Free crutches! Freedom Leg Brace vs iwalk 2.0 detailed REVIEW
The Best Thing Ever!

If adjusted properly and worked with PRIOR to surgery is a life changer. I’m 67 and had major foot surgery last May. It would have been miserable to use just crutches as the strength of my youth is giving way as I age. This allowed me to be much more independent. Talk to the owner and in enter. He brought one by my house (and taught me how to properly use it and I never looked back. Lindsey who works with the owner was amazing. I think the folks who have trouble with it are simply not versed well enough in its use. I had amazing customer service so can’t speak to people about bad customer service. ONE AMAZING DEVICE!!
Oh thank goodness no crutching!

Major ankle surgery & a broken fibula. I can’t load or weight my leg for 12 weeks. This thing is great because I can carry a cup of coffee, or take my laptop to a meeting. I’d be unable to work, or in a wheelchair otherwise. It’s great to be a biped again. You do have to strap it on tight but hey crutches hurt too… Somebody complained their cast didn’t fit, which would suck, so measure that. My sister also had one & liked it, so we are “2 for 2” liking this device in my family.
Freedom Leg ! Say No to crutches
Apr 9, 2014
I just wanted to let you know that you have made a huge difference in my life dealing with 90 days of no weight on my ankle. Because of your invention I have been able to go to work each day upstairs and get through life as normal as possible with an injury like this. My upper leg has remained strong because of the Freedom Leg so I am sure my physical therapy and rehab will go much quicker with only the lower leg to work on.
Best purchase I’ve ever made!

I don’t know how I would have gotten around without this device! I had surgery to re-fuse my subtalar joint in my ankle and had to be non-weightbearing for 3-5 months. If you are completely non-weightbearing for any length of time, you’ll understand quickly how awkward and inconvenient it can be. You can’t carry things easily as you need both hands for the crutches, so doing even simple tasks like carrying copies out of a printer, getting clothes out of a closet to wear, or taking a mug of hot coffee across the room is impossible. Crutch bags or backpacks can really only go so far, and hopping on one leg so you have free hands isn’t a safe solution either and someone else isn’t always around to carry things for you.
After I found this device, I first consulted with my orthopedist and his physical therapist to see if it would be acceptable. They read all the information and agreed it was a very clever solution. They were excited to see that something like this had been developed! In fact, every time I visit my orthopedist’s or physical therapist’s offices, everyone excitedly wants to know where they could get one. This isn’t the type of thing I’d recommend that you try to fit yourself, although it is certainly possible if you carefully follow the directions and measure your leg carefully. I initially fit mine myself and then verified the fit with my PT to ensure my hips were level. I did make some adjustments over time to reduce pressure points, etc. The company also backed up the brace well and was very willing to answer questions. As I used mine far longer than most people, they even provided replacement parts for pieces that wore out (the tread on the bottom was one; they also sent me some extra pads and straps for no cost).
I honestly do not know how I’d have made it all that time without this brace. For longer distances, I also used the Vogager seated scooter the same company sells, which is also brilliant! I’d read up on knee scooters and had heard they can cause knee problems on your “good” leg, so I decided a seated scooter would be a better bet. I did replace their seat with a padded hornless seat, which made it much more comfortable, but between the brace and scooter my life was far more bearable. I also felt that the brace kept the muscles in my bad leg working some, at least in the thigh, so there was less atrophy when I finally put weight on th leg.
Don’t let the negative reviews here put you off. If you are unsure how to fit the brace or if it will work for you, consult your doctor or PT first. If you aren’t sure it will work with your cast, call the company and give them the measurements. I’m unfortunately logging yet another 3+ month period in this brace (and using the scooter) because we are redoing the fusion, but I am thanking my lucky stars I’ve got both of these devices to get me through yet again.
NOTE: I’ve logged a lot of time on crutches and other assistive devices in the past 20 years due to a serious ankle fracture from a car accident and numerous associated surgeries. I maintain a good weight, am fit and very flexible, but am older and developing some arthritis. I have looked at some of the other devices like the iWalkFree that have you balance on your knee, but therein lies the problem: I personally would not chance using that type of device. Having your full weight on your thigh (a VERY strong bone!) with seems far safer to me than trying to balance weight on your knee joint (more delicate and easily damaged). The Freedom Leg is also very stable given the wide base, so balance hasn’t been a problem for me. In reading the other reviews, it appears that some have not had good customer service with this company. That hasn’t been my experience at all over the years. It is a small business and seems leanly staffed as a result, so perhaps that causes problems sometimes. I’ve dealt with Joel Smith more than anyone else, but he has always followed through and really has gone above and beyond for me. I’d buy again from them in a heartbeat.
I just wanted to thank whomever designed the Freedom Leg brace. I received my brace yesterday from Dr Evan Brody in Kennesaw Georgia. As a 15 year veteran of the rehab equipment and seating and mobility industries, I have been waiting for just such a device. I am a t-level partial spinal cord injury from a MVA 25 years ago. During the 27 operations I had subsequently , I also developed type 2 diabetes. The two diagnosis have created a perfect storm where I suffer from chronic foot wounds caused by pressure and shear forces. I have had to resort to continually using a wheelchair to keep from getting these wounds or to heal a wound after I get them from ambulating too much. This brace has allowed me to return to work after a recent wound required an IND procedure. I was able to wash my truck this morning and look forward to the work day ahead. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR DESIGNING THIS BRACE! Brock Beasley ATP, CRTS, CDSS.
Please share with Joel how much I appreciate this device. The Freedom Leg has allowed me to deliver a $30k wheelchair to an ALS client who would have had to wait a couple more weeks for delivery. The extra time she’ll have being independent at this stage of her disease process will definitely make a difference in the quality of her life during the short time she has left with her family. The ripple effects caused by the freedom and independence provided by a device like this is pretty awesome. Many thanks to you all!
Thanks so much, I wore the brace in to see my surgeon today for stitch removal and he is very impressed with the Freedom Leg Brace. He called in the top Physical Therapist as well as the tech that orders his ortho devices, and they were equally as impressed!!
I’ve worn my Freedom Brace four or five times since I received it. I love it, and I’m still singing its praises. I wore it to my Doctor/Surgeon’s Office Monday and showed it off to the staff and the three Doctors in the office. They were all very impressed. I passed along your contact information. Again, thanks for a great product.
“I got my Freedom Leg today and I LOVE IT, LOVE IT, LOVE IT!!!! Thank you for making such a wonderful and revolutionary product! I could kiss you guys and want to say thanks for making my recovery easier. I can’t wait to go shopping!!!! I wish I had some of your cards with me because I have a feeling I am going to get a lot of people asking where I got this. It has been so exciting to walk around the house and have my hands free. Yeah!!! I cannot tell you how happy that makes me!!!”
“Awesome product and I’ll be showing it to my Doc on Thursday when I’m back from overseas. I’ll spread the word! Thanks for all the help with the Freedom Leg. I’m in Italy and it’s working great! What a huge help the brace has been!”
“My new Freedom Leg is working awesome! I think this bad boy is going to work just fine for the six weeks I have remaining off my ankle. I have been really rough on the Freedom Leg and it’s still holding up even in rough terrain on the construction site where I work.”
“Thanks a ton! I really appreciate your standing behind your product. I’d say 75% of my Freedom Leg use was in walking my dog 2-3 times a day for several hours per day. Another 20% was working at my fabrication shop, which involved mainly standing on wood floors while spraying low volumes of lacquers. 5% at home walking around my apt on hardwood floors. I’ll be sure to go on some message boards and my blog, to spread the positive word about the product and the customer service soon”
